Do you sense a disturbance in the Force? Maybe that’s because May 25 will be the 40th anniversary of the original release of Star Wars in theaters. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, we’ll be posting Star Wars stories all month, including choice vintage interviews, original videos, and some of our favorite pieces from years past. Introduced by Kellogg’s in 1984, C-3PO’s resembled Cheerios for all intents and purposes, in spite of the way that they were framed like the numeral eight. Television plugs included C3P0 and his trusty friend, R2D2 busy with various intergalactic encounters with a bowl of crunchy grain bits for each situation. Each case fused some sort of film collectible, similar to stickers of the film’s characters.
Tragically, even with conceivably the most obvious robots in history as a pitchman, it wasn’t adequate to cloak how C-3PO’s were an unsweetened grain that didn’t sufficiently offer to the sugar-subordinate youngsters of our planet.
